About this report:

I am currently living in Costa Rica and purchase 50mg IR Tramadol over the counter for shoulder pain. I use Tramadol when I feel my shoulder pain does not constitute taking my 20mg OxyContin for which I have a prescription for. I also use Tramadol whenever there is a day I cannot get my OxyContin prescription filled.

My Experience With Drugs:

Every form of Oxycodone (Percocet, Endocet, OxyContin..), Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Vicodin SE, Lortab...), Morphine, Codeine, Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, Ativan, Adderall, Ritalin, Darvocet, Soma, Skelaxin, Marijuana, Hash, Cocaine, MDMA Crystals, Ecstasy, Paxil, Prozac, Wellbutrin, Vyvanse, Ambien, Lunesta, Abilify, Seroquel, Tramadol, and DXM.

I have mixed many of these drugs/medications at different times in different variations. I have a large tolerance for just about every medication/drug listed above.

My Background:

At the age of 17 my life changed in a very dramatic way. It was as if my life took a 180 degree turn.

I grew up with access to more money and power then most anyone will ever experience. My father was featured in Forbes Magazine, as was the majority of friends I had. My best friends father was on the cover of Forbes at one point. We had anything we wanted whenever we wanted it. We went to clubs in convoys of Hummers with personal security. We purchased bottles of Grey Goose sitting VIP at every club we went. We dated the most beautiful girls in our school. We paid $600.00 for the most gorgeous hookers you could imagine. I drove a car that cost $130,000. The point being I had it all.

Then when I turned 17, for reasons I do not wish to get in to, it was all taken away. My friends still experienced this power and for that reason I managed to get through my last year of high school sane. When I graduated high school and all of my friends headed out to Brown, Harvard, and other great schools I was to depressed with my own situation to do anything. So I slowly began the downward spiral which has been my life ever since. There has been times when I moved in with my friends where I felt great again, but I knew it wasn't mine.

This is when I started to look for ways to ease my emotional pain. It started off with doctors writing prescriptions for Xanax and Paxil, then moved on to buying Codiene and smoking pot. I moved from doctor to doctor hoping to find something to make everything ok. To this day I have found it. During this period I experimented with just about every drug known to man. Luckily I still had access to a great deal of money compared to the average person; even though it seemed like pocket change to me. For this reason I could buy 5g of Cocaine at a time and spend $200.00 a week on brand name OxyContin.

After 4 or so years I am starting to adjust to my new life and therefore do not abuse any drugs or medication on a daily basis. I might have a doctor write my a prescription for Xanax every now and then or buy a gram of Coke on a bad day but I do not use anything daily.

About 6 months ago I had major surgery on my shoulder which has plagued me with pain ever since. I have been given prescriptions for 80mg OxyContin taken daily for the past three months. The OxyContin works like a charm and sure makes my life feel less miserable. What I did not know was how bad withdrawals were. When there was three days where I did not have my OxyContin, I went through living hell. That is when I discovered Tramadol.

About Tramadol: I am now living in Costa Rica and have access to Tramadol as well as Codiene OTC. After taking at times up to 160mg of OxyCodone a day, Codiene even at 300-400mg seems to do nothing. After doing some research online I decided I would pick up some Tramadol to have around in the event I ran out of OxyContin or if my shoulder pain was not to bad where I needed something as strong as Oxy.

I expected nothing after taking 150mg of IR Tramadol as most doctors do not even consider it a true opiate. To my surprise I did begin to feel something about 30 minutes after my dose. The sensation was both similar and different to consuming an opiate based drug which makes writing about it so difficult. The best I can describe the peak feeling of Tramadol is a low dose mix of Vicodin and Adderall. I feel better then before I took the pill and I have some energy that I did not have before. The effects last maybe an hour or two longer then Oxycodone does, so about 5 or 6 hours.

Tramadol is great when I do not have OxyContin around as it helps to minimize withdrawals and shoulder pain but I would take a true opiate over Tramadol any time. It seems best when taken with Xanax and seems to work ok to manage the comedown from Cocaine.

All in all it is a good medication to have around. If I did not have OxyContin or other opiates prescribed to me, I would be using Tramdol without question. Therefore I do see it as an option for those who do not have access to real opiate based medications.
