Nov 1969 DEA's forerunner, the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, reports in their Microgram newsletter: "Brown powder alleged to be mescaline was recently analyzed by our Chicago Regional Laboratory. It was found to be ground Hawaiian Baby Wood Rose." 3  
1972 Book on the psychoactive use of plants reports that poor Hawaiians consume Argyreia nervosa for a "cheap buzz". 4
